“Someone struggled for your right to vote. Use it.”
(Susan B. Anthony)
Voting is one of the most powerful ways we can influence the direction of our communities, our state, and the nation. Yet, too often, people underestimate the importance of their individual vote. I believe voting is more than politics. It is about leadership, responsibility, accountability, and creating a better future for generations to come.
Voting Is an Act of Leadership
Authentic leadership requires us to align our actions with our values. When we take time to understand the issues, evaluate candidates, and cast an informed vote, we demonstrate personal responsibility. Leadership is not always about holding a position of authority. Sometimes, leadership is simply about showing up and making your voice heard.
Voting Honors the Past and Shapes the Future
Throughout American history, individuals fought and sacrificed to expand voting rights. Some folks lost their lives to provide us with the right and ability to vote. Exercising these rights honors their efforts while helping protect opportunities for future generations. The decisions made by elected officials influence education, healthcare, economic opportunities, public safety, and the overall well-being of our communities.
Our votes help determine who makes those decisions. Your votes matter and make a difference.
Effective leadership requires accountability. Elections allow us to evaluate the people who will represent us and determine whether their actions reflect the values and priorities of our communities. We may not agree on every political issue, but we can respect one another’s right to participate in the democratic process.
One of my guiding beliefs is that we should strive to leave people and places better than we found them. Voting provides an opportunity to put that belief into action. My biggest hope is that everyone took the time to be informed to understand the issues prior to Election Tuesday.
We can’t complain about the political landscape if we don’t participate in local, state and national elections. I’m not concerned with who you voted for but I’m hopeful that everyone reading this article took the time to vote during the midterm elections.
Our future is not shaped solely by elected officials. It is also shaped by everyday citizens who choose to make a difference.
Your vote is your voice. Your voice represents your values. And your values help shape the future.
Did you use YOUR voice today?
Keep walking into the future and keep making positive things happen!

“Your vote is more than a choice on a ballot. It is an investment in the future you want to see.”
